The Chairman of Sierra Leone’s main opposition party in the Northern District of Tonkolili has, on Friday 31st January 2025, launched an Agricultural project that will benefit party supporters and residents across the District's twenty-nine wards.

The official launching of the agricultural project, which took place at the All People's Congress Party office along Bo Road in Magburaka town, manifested Dr Samuel Bangura's remarkable leadership and dedication towards community development and empowerment.

Bringing together party members across the District and at the national level, the APC Chairman said the project will enhance agricultural productivity, create jobs for local farmers and as well boost food security.

This vision not only reflects Bangura's passion for community development but also fosters food security and economic growth in Tonkolili District.

Bangura said the vision is a collective effort by the entire executive and membership of the party in the District.

According to historical background, the project will be supported by Sierra Leone’s former ambassador to the Republic of Korea, His Excellency Ambassador Omrie Michael Golley.

Dr Bangura said during the launching that the APC party is ensuring that every ward and Chiefdom in the District benefits from the project, especially the party's grassroots, whom he said have suffered and are still suffering since the current government took office in 2018. He called on the Ward Committee members and Constituency Executive to take ownership of the project and ensure it benefits the ordinary people and party members.

During the launch, several of the party's stakeholders at regional and national levels were present.

Lansana Dumbuya, the All People's Congress Secretary General, praised the Tonkolili District Chairman and his Executive for such a laudable venture in empowering communities around the District. Dumbuya said the national leadership is strongly behind the initiative and will ensure it benefits the party supporters in Tonkolili.

In its first phase, Dr Samuel Bangura said the project will be five (5) hectares per Ward.

There was a call for massive support for the project by all those present during the official launch because the initiative was not only boosting local farming but also promoting food sufficiency.

Members of Parliament, councillors, and other elective officials from the District were also in attendance to grace the occasion.
