The Sierra Leone Red Cross Society (SLRCS) has embarked on a training initiative to empower local bridge volunteers across six districts: Bo, Pujehun, Kenema, Moyamba, Bonthe, and Kono.
Taking to their social media platform, the SLRCS highlighted that the primary objective of this training is to equip participants with essential skills, raise awareness, and foster motivation within BRIDGE communities to construct household latrines, in alignment with the principles of the Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) policy.
Emphasizing the comprehensive nature of the training, they noted that it incorporates both practical demonstrations of slab casting techniques and in-depth explanations of the underlying engineering processes. Participants will gain insights into aspects such as slab dimensions, material quality, optimal mixing ratios, and various latrine models tailored to economic factors and soil conditions.
The training fosters an interactive environment, encouraging attendees to actively engage by posing questions and contributing their insights. Commencing on August 7th, the training program is scheduled to run until August 13th, 2023.
